Editorial pipeline: scheduled drafting, a depth gate and verified publishing for a Portuguese-language site

Challenge
The publication serves small businesses choosing WhatsApp tools, and it needed a steady flow of useful pages: reviews, rankings, tutorials and news. Scheduled AI drafting can produce that volume, and it also produces thin pages that repeat each other. The brief was a pipeline that keeps the pace without letting shallow or templated pages through, with a person deciding what gets published.
Solution
We built the site on Next.js and put an editorial calendar file at the center: every slot is outlined, ready, draft, published, moved or dropped. A scheduled job drafts one page per run, Monday to Thursday, after researching the questions people ask AI search tools. A blocking depth gate sends a page back to draft unless its scores cite specific evidence, it includes a worked cost example in local currency, it adds one element competitors don't have and it reuses no boilerplate. A publisher on the owner's machine commits and deploys what is ready, and a page counts as published only once it returns 200 and appears in the sitemap.

- About a dozen free browser tools, including link and QR code generators, a payment QR code, message generators, an API cost calculator and a number validator; nothing typed is sent or stored

Functionality
- One shared scores file with five weighted criteria, so a platform has the same score on every page
- Quality-rater review and a passing build required for every page
- A review without a captured pricing screenshot, or an unfinished tool, stays in draft for manual work
- Deploy confirmed only when the new URL returns 200 and appears in the sitemap
- Sitemap dates are real edit dates, never the build time
- IndexNow pings only for pages changed that day

What does the depth gate check?
Four things, and a page that fails any of them goes back to draft. Every score has to point to specific evidence, not a bare number. The page needs at least one worked cost example in local currency, broken down by message category. It has to add one original element, such as a decision tree, a break-even threshold or a counter-argument. And it may reuse the structure of other pages, never their sentences. The gate was added after an audit found early drafts too similar to each other.
